Rev. Bud Precise - Pilgrim is fortunate to have The Reverend Bud Precise as our current pastor. Bud will celebrate 6 years as Pilgrim’s pastor in September 2009. Bud’s ordination is recognized by both the United Church of Christ and the United Methodist Church. As an ordained United Methodist pastor, Bud served churches in the North Alabama and Alabama-West Florida annual conferences until his retirement. Bud’s focus for much of his ministry in the United Methodist church was Christian Education and working for justice for all persons. Upon retirement, Bud spent time in South Africa as a Peace Corps representative. He came to Pilgrim as an interim pastor soon after his return to the United State and was eventually called by the Pilgrim congregation to serve as our part-time pastor.

Bud is a native of Scottsboro, Alabama. He is a graduate of Birmingham Southern College here in Birmingham, and received a Master of Divinity degree from Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Bud loves sports, music and the beauty of the outdoors. Each fall for the past seven years, Bud has spent three weeks as a volunteer at Acadia National Park near Bar Harbor, Maine. This place, its people and the work done at the Park have become an integral part of Bud’s life and Pilgrim will wish him “safe travels” as he heads to Maine again this fall.

Linda Miner - Director of Christian Education and Religious Education

Linda Miner came to Pilgrim as the Director of Christian Education and Religious Education in September, 2008. Linda received a BS in Elementary Education from the University of North Alabama, her Master of Divinity from Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, and her Master of Education from Georgia State University, Atlanta, Georgia. Linda is currently an Associate Licensed Counselor.
Linda’s professional experiences include elementary school teacher, 10 years as a pastor in the United Methodist church, hospice chaplain and therapist in mental health agencies. Linda and her partner, Elaine Eberhart, joined Pilgrim after their move to Birmingham in 2004.
